RACHO ART

Rachid Reyes Gutiérrez

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rachid Reyes Gutiérrez (Cuba, 1991) is a visual artist trained at the renowned San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Havana. From an early age, he revealed a deep connection with drawing and painting, exploring realism with curiosity and precision, and developing a language shaped by close observation and the unique expressiveness of his style. For him, art is more than technique: it is identity, research, and a space for both personal and collective transformation.

In his first artistic stage, dedicated to realistic charcoal drawing on canvas, the human figure was the central focus of his work. During this period, shadows and textures were explored as elements capable of conveying emotion and depth.

In 2017, after settling in Mozambique, he found new sources of inspiration in the richness of local culture, social dynamics, and natural life. It was also in this context that he began his career as a mural painter, expanding the reach of his work into public space and community engagement.

The textures present in his works evoke the marks of life, in a dialogue between fragility and resilience. The representation of animals holds a symbolic place, reflecting the vital connection between human beings and the environment, and emphasizing the urgency of balance and preservation.

Through his canvases and murals, Rachid — also known artistically as Racho — seeks to create bridges between the intimate and the collective, raising social and environmental awareness, celebrating diversity, and leaving a lasting mark on both spaces and people.
