During his time in Mozambique, Rachid Gutiérrez embraced muralism as a transformative form of artistic expression that broadened the scope and meaning of his work. His collaboration with the Spanish collective Boa Mistura in Maputo revealed the power of public art and launched his career as a muralist.

Since then, he has taken part in important projects, including the restoration of Noel Langa’s mural on the Wall of Biodiversity, interventions at the Environmental Interpretation Center, murals at Praça do Ambiente, and community initiatives such as Muraleando Maputo in Chamaculo C.

For Racho, muralism is more than large-scale painting: it is a distinct expressive voice that blends his artistic practice with collective experience. His walls become spaces of memory, identity, and cultural dialogue—uniting aesthetics with social transformation.
